PALS no-kill animal shelter was established 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers to address the problem of abused and neglected animals in Lincoln County, Missouri. They began their efforts through in-home fostering and adoption, and by 2000 moved into their current space. PALS is the only animal shelter in the rural Missouri county that covers 550 square miles and has a population of approximately 55,000. Annually PALS takes in almost 400 stray, abandoned, neglected and owner-surrendered animals with approximately 95% of the animals requiring sterilization before they are eligible for adoption. PALS strives to become an asset to pet owners and the community through: – Public Assistance and education by promoting proper animal welfare – Spaying and neutering for pet population control – Finding good homes for impounded, stray, abandoned, neglected, or owner turned in pets – Assisting stray or lost pets in finding their rightful owner – Providing care and shelter for pets until they are adopted – Assisting other animal rescue organizations in need, PALS is committed to improving the lives of the animals they serve at the shelter and the lives of the caring residents who adopt the animals and bring them into their homes and make them part of their families.
